Meet Sybil Danning, born Sybille Johanna Danninger on May 24, 1952, an Austrian actress and model. She got big in the ‘70s and ‘80s for poppin’ up in B movies.
Born in Wels, Austria, she grew up movin’ around military bases with her fam, travelin’ the globe. After her folks split, she worked as a dental hygienist back in Austria to keep things floatin’. At 16, she bounced to Salzburg, hittin’ up cosmetology school. Workin’ as a cosmetician, she started rockin’ fashion shows and photo shoots. Her first movie was the German comedy Komm nur, mein liebstes Vögelein in ’68, then she played Kriemhild in the spicy action flick The Long Swift Sword of Siegfried in ’71. Kept landin’ small roles, leanin’ into that sex symbol rep.
In ’78, she jetted to Hollywood to level up in American films. Her big break came in Roger Corman’s sci-fi gem Battle Beyond the Stars in ’80, cementin’ her as a B movie queen. She starred in a bunch of ‘80s flicks like Chained Heat, Hercules, Malibu Express, Howling II: Your Sister Is a Werewolf, and Reform School Girls. In ’90, a stunt rehearsal accident sidelined her with a spinal disc herniation, puttin’ her actin’ gig on pause.
