Glenda Jackson (born May 9, 1936), is a distinguished British actress and former Labour Party politician. She served as MP for Hampstead and Highgate (1992–2010) and later Hampstead and Kilburn until 2015.
A member of the Royal Shakespeare Company (1964–1968), she won two Best Actress Oscars for Women in Love (1969) and A Touch of Class (1973), and an Emmy for Elizabeth R (1971). She also earned acclaim for Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971). As a politician, she was a Junior Transport Minister (1997–1999) but later criticized Tony Blair. Her 2010 election saw a tight 42-vote majority. She retired from politics in 2015.
